Consumers Credit Union Breaks Ground on Newest Grand Rapids Office
Kalamazoo, MICH — Consumers Credit Union is pleased to announce that construction has begun on our newest location in Grand Rapids. Representatives from Consumers Credit Union, project contractor CopperRock Construction and building designers Bosch Architecture held a ceremonial groundbreaking in July at the site, located at 220 54th Street Southwest. Work at the 54th Street site is set to begin immediately and will take approximately six months to complete.
This will be Consumers’ sixth and largest office in the Grand Rapids area. The 6,145-square-foot, two-story office consists of a main level with Interactive Teller technology in the lobby and drive thru lanes. The main floor also features a free coffee bar, wireless banking stations with Wi-Fi and loan and member service areas. Community events and financial education seminars will also be hosted on this level.
The larger floor plan will support the organization’s growth in this market and will offer a full range of Consumers’ services, including new accounts, loans, credit cards, mortgages, investment services, business services and more. The increased office space will be available for all Consumers’ departments to use.
“We anticipate an increase in demand for consumer loans and mortgages, in particular,” says Kit
Snyder, president and CEO. “Lending is one of our greatest strengths, and we are committed to providing the financing options that meet the needs of our community, including businesses.”
Consumers, which began operations in 1951, currently serves more than over 96,000 members in West Michigan with 20 offices and over $1 billion in total assets. The Credit Union has averaged 18% annual growth for the past 35 years and looks forward to continuing this trajectory by expanding its services to its Grand Rapids members with the opening of this newest location.
