Kalamazoo, MICH — Consumers Credit Union is pleased to announce the opening of its newest location in Grand Rapids. Consumers’ seventh office opened last week in Grand Rapids, on Wilson Avenue Northwest across from the Meijer in Standale. This is the credit union’s 22nd office in West Michigan.

The new office offers a full range of financial services, including personal and commercial lending and investment services. Partners on this project include contractor CopperRock Construction and building designers Bosch Architecture of Kalamazoo.

The new Walker office was built with TellerPlus+ technology in the lobbies and drive thru. TellerPlus+ connects members to live tellers through two-way concierge video services allowing for full-service banking, including cash advances, currency exchange, loan payments and more. The technology also allows for extended service hours in the drive thru Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Consumers’ continued investment in advanced banking technology has proven to be a boon in the current global crisis, allowing Consumers employees to continue to serve members virtually, while minimizing exposure risk for the community at large. Consumers will complete converting all existing offices to TellerPlus+ offices this year. All new offices, including one currently under construction in Grand Haven will utilize the technology.

“We are very pleased that we can continue to serve our 108,000+ members and protect them and our employees during these challenging times of COVID-19,” said CEO & President Kit Snyder. “We have always been committed to providing local exceptional service to our Grand Rapids communities and are always looking for ways to ensure our members can bank how they want, when they want. Our TellerPlus+ machines do just that.”

Consumers is currently celebrating their 70th year since their establishment in 1951. In office and online, they currently serve more than over 108,000 members in West Michigan with 22 locations and over $1.4 billion in total assets. The credit union has averaged 18% annual growth for the past 35 years and looks forward to continuing this trajectory by expanding its services in Grand Rapids and other new markets in 2021.
