CUES recognizes Kit’s 38 years of contributions and community service

In October, the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) inducted Consumers President and CEO Kit Snyder to their Hall of Fame. This prestigious award recognizes Kit’s contributions to the industry and CUES, involvement in community service and continued professional development.

Hired in the fall of 1983 as our general manager, Kit took the helm when Consumers had just three employees. Under his leadership, we’ve grown to over 400 employees who now serve more than 117,000 members. Over the course of nearly four decades, Kit has led the credit union’s growth from $3 million in assets to over $1.7 billion.

Kit was introduced to CUES early in his career as he sought new ways to grow Consumers.

“I give a lot of credit to CUES for the success of not only Consumers, but myself,” he said. “I recall every fall I attended the CEO Networking Conference. I learned a great deal from world-class speakers namely, Stephen Covey—and what a treat it was to share conversations with him and have lunch together. And Ken Blanchard and Tom Peters, and the networking with veteran CEOs was priceless.

“For the last 37 years, Consumers’ growth has averaged 18% a year, and I have grown just as much along the way.”

Thanks in large part to Kit’s vision, business acumen and team building skills, Consumers Credit Union was named the #1 Best Credit Union to Work For in 2020.  Kit’s servant leadership is a key factor behind our team’s ability to serve our members with personal and business banking, loans and investments.
