After the crazy year that was 2020, who isn’t ready for a fresh start? To help, Consumers Credit Union gave away $50,000 in total cash prizes to help make home project dreams come true in its first-ever Fresh Start Home Sweepstakes!

The air was buzzing with anticipation and passing vehicles honked in excitement on Tuesday, April 27, when Consumers presented the awards to our three winners, Wanda Allred, DeLight Brown and James Baranoksi.

A trip and a truck for two please

Wanda, winner of the $10,000 award, has been a member with Consumers since 2011 and frequently banks at the Milwood Office on Portage Rd. After a tough year of quarantine and lockdowns, Wanda looks forward to some time away with her husband.

“I want to take a trip, and my husband wants to get a new truck!” exclaimed Wanda when asked how she plans to use her winnings.

Night nurse wins big

The $15,000 sweepstakes was awarded to DeLight, an experienced NICU nurse with Bronson Methodist Hospital who has banked with Consumers since 2010.

When it comes to Consumers, DeLight is always impressed with the excellent customer service.

“I’ve never had any type of issue,” DeLight said. “Someone is always available to answer my questions. It’s awesome.”

The wife and mother was completely surprised and absolutely thrilled after the reveal.

“I am so excited to have won this. I don’t even know what to say! It has definitely been quite a year, and this is definitely a big help,” said DeLight. “Thank you, thank you so much! My family thanks you.”

Winner, winner, kitchen dinner

A member with Consumers since 2010, James, jumped with joy at news that he had won the Fresh Start Home Sweepstakes grand prize of $25,000.

“I love Consumers; they’re personal,” explained James “They helped me restart my life and now things are going great. [Now former Office Manager] Kim Ferris at Milwood has been a huge part of that.

“We just purchased a new house, so now I know my wife is going to get her new kitchen.”

Eligible to members and non-members, there were three ways to enter the sweepstakes: automatic enrollment when a mortgage, home equity loan or home equity line of credit was applied for through Consumers; a mail-in form was completed; or an online form was submitted.
