For over 60 years, one of Consumers Credit Union’s core charities, Milestone Senior Services, has been supporting older adults and adults with disabilities in their choice to remain living independently at home. Milestone relies on the generosity of the communities they serve to help provide vital services such as Meals on Wheels, home repair, accessibility modifications and companionship services to older adults and adults with disabilities in their community. Cassandra Stewart, director of development and marketing for Milestone, emphasizes the importance of recurring donations for the organization’s long-term sustainability.

“The magic of recurring donations is that it transforms a donation into a funding stream that we know we can count on,” said Stewart. “It’s not that recurring donations are any larger than an annual or one-time donation, but the fact that we know each month that money will be there lets us plan our programming accordingly.”

“While annual or one-time donations help our bottom line, their unpredictability makes them less reliable,” Stewart adds. “Recurring donations, on the other hand, provide a consistency that is crucial for any operation.”

“It’s simply more convenient,” shares Carrie, a long-time recurring donor to Milestone. “I give monthly and then at the end of the year, I know it’s taken care of—I don’t have to think about it.”

Like most donors, Carrie provides financial support to the causes she is passionate about. As she watched her parents age, she felt a strong connection to issues related to aging with dignity.
