West Michigan leads in manufacturing comeback
Grand Rapids-Wyoming has seen a 20.5 percent jump in industrial employment since 2012 according to Forbes. The area hosts 2,500 manufacturing companies, and 80 percent of them have less than 250 employees.
The Right Place reports that the West Michigan area “hosts one of the most diverse material manufacturing supply chains in the U.S.” It includes everything from plastics and composite materials to exotic metals and embedded electronics.
