Sunday is Father’s Day – here are five ideas for honoring your dad for all he’s done for you.

While every day is a good day to show your dad the appreciation he deserves, Father’s Day calls for something extra. Here are five ideas for honoring your dad. Some don’t require any cash but they’re all sure to be appreciated.

Cook up his faves

Every family has well-loved recipes that only get made certain times of year. Surprise dad with his favorite tamales, pot roast, kourabiedes (Greek wedding cookies), pierogis or apple pie. Make and freeze extra portions so dad can enjoy his faves later, too!

Cheers for beer

Take your dad out to sample craft beers. Whether it’s just the two of you or the whole gang, order a flight and enjoy the conversation.

If your dad is a DIYer, consider giving him a brew kit. Or, head over to Saugatuck Brewing Company where you can make your own make beer on-site with the guidance of professional brew masters.

Write a letter

In a world of texts and tweets, it’s nice to get messages on paper. Write a letter of appreciation to your dad. Thank him for all his love and the ways he makes you feel special. Be specific. Handwritten or typed, your words will touch dad’s heart.

Honoring your dad’s memory

If you’ve lost your dad, Father’s Day can be a great time to honor his memory by doing something kind. Pick up the tab for someone’s meal or coffee. If they ask why, tell them it’s in honor of your dad.

Honorary dads

In addition to biological dads, some of us have special men in our lives who are as loving and generous as our dads. Maybe it’s a family friend or an uncle who’s always been there for you. Let your “honorary dad” know how much you appreciate him.

Thank you to all the dads out there. We love you!
