ArtPrize 10 kicked off this week in Grand Rapids. Among the more than 1,200 pieces of art is a special entry called Evolution by artists #CaptureAHealthyFuture–a group collaborating with the Consumers Credit Union Nothing Bundt Cake World Record Cake Walk to benefit Kids’ Food Basket.

The 3-D interactive art piece features a child’s table covered with Kids’ Food Basket sack supper bags and is surrounded by four chairs–with a noticeable fifth missing. This signifies the 1 in 5 children in our community who go hungry every day. At the center of the piece is a working QR code made from recycled Consumers debit cards and checks.

The piece shows how throughout history, the exchange of money for food has evolved. And in today’s world, by scanning the QR code, viewers can take action against hunger by donating to an online Kids’ Food Basket fundraising page.
