Saving the world from ordinary breakfast

How Anna’s House is growing with business lending support from Consumers

How do you save the world from ordinary breakfast? At Anna’s House, it starts with a “retro diner” where yummy, fresh food is served by cheerful, friendly staff.

You want gluten-free, dairy-free or vegetarian? How about all-natural, chemical-free meat? They do it all – beautifully! Foodies are constantly posting breakfast and lunch pics on Instagram.

After Owner and CEO Josh Beckett bought the original Anna’s House on Plainfield Avenue in Grand Rapids in 2005, he tailored the menu to meet the dietary preferences of the community.

People loved it! And, they wanted more.

Over the next 12 years, he opened five more locations. Two in Grand Rapids, and one each in Holland, Kalamazoo and Westland. All together, they employ 300 people.

100% better than banks

About a year ago, Josh moved his finances from a big bank to Consumers.

“I’m a huge fan of credit unions versus banks,” he said. “I like that members are owners – it’s 100% better than banks.”

Since joining Consumers, the number of Anna’s House locations have increased 50%.

“At the big banks, no one wants to help small business grow. Consumers stepped up and helped us,” Josh said. “They became a financial partner. They were willing to lend and partner with us.”

Josh also appreciates how easy it is to bank with Consumers.

“The technology is fantastic, and so are the online services. I like that your mission statement really clicks with ours. We like to partner with brands that promote cultures like ours.

“I love Consumers! You hire good people and I get good feedback from all my general managers. It’s a great experience. I highly recommend you over any bank in Grand Rapids!”

We love Anna’s House, too! If you want to bank with a team who cares about your business as much as you do, call us at 800.991.2221. We’re here to help you grow your business savings!
