Consumers Credit Union Announces $20,000 Scholarship for High School Students

2019 Consumers Scholarship winners

Kalamazoo, MICH — Consumers Credit Union is pleased to announce that its Consumers Scholars program will be awarding 11 prizes to high school students in early 2020. One grand prize winner will receive $20,000, and 10 additional students will be awarded $1,000.

These scholarships will be for students who will attend a university, college or trade school beginning in 2020.

Applicants for the scholarships must be full-time high school seniors, have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be a member of Consumers Credit Union.

Additionally, applications will be evaluated based on academic achievement, community service and an essay contest. The essay question for this year’s submission is, “If you were to develop a Mt. Rushmore representing the 21st century, whose faces would you select and why?” Complete details can be found at Consumerscu.org/Scholarships.

“Consumers has brought a scholarship program to our high schools in Michigan for 13 years,” said Kit Snyder, CEO of Consumers Credit Union. “We are proud to be able to bring this opportunity to students ready to make a difference in our world. Our scholarships, in part, come from our employees who donate weekly to our core community programs. This makes it even more special each year.”

The scholarship application is open now through March 1, 2020.
