What employees are looking for when choosing an employer.

Much has been written recently about the “Great Resignation” of millions of workers who’ve left their jobs. This made us curious about what types of jobs people are gravitating toward. Keep reading to see what employees expect from their employers.

Flexibility is highly desired

For many white-collar workers, the pandemic afforded more work-life balance while productivity remained steady—and in many cases increased. Workers today seek employers who offer flexibility for working remotely some, if not all, of the time.

Fair wages are just the beginning

Employees want fair compensation but good pay isn’t enough. They want jobs that support their career ambitions and prepare them for the next job.

People seek employers who respect them

Organizations who fail to recognize individual dignity are losing workers. Employers that acknowledge different needs among the workforce and show respect for safety and health are the employers of choice.

Clarity is key to creating meaningful work

Workers want employers who make it clear what needs to be done and what success looks like. Clarity on daily tasks and broad goals, including why they are important, help create meaningful work.

Employees want diverse teams

According to Harvard Business Review, employees want to work for a company that prioritizes diversity. In fact, 86% of employees say a “diverse workforce will become even more important as roles, skills and company requirements change over time.”

If you’re having difficulty attracting and retaining employees, consider how you can better implement these five factors to create a workplace people desire.
