Here’s news you can use in a constantly changing business environment, including a limited-time tax break for charitable donations, why leaders shouldn’t automatically fix everything and how to leave burnout behind in 2021.

  1. Charitable donations get a tax break in 2021 — Under the Coronavirus Relief Law enacted in December 2020, taxpayers who claim the standard deduction can take a deduction for charitable contributions made in 2021. Single filers can deduct up to $300 in donations and married couples can deduct up to $600 on their 2021 tax returns. Donate to your favorite charity before year-end. If you don’t have a fave, consider one of the Consumers Core Charities.
  2. Resist the urge to fix everything — There’s a downside when leaders rush in with solutions and advice: It deprives teams of important opportunities to grow. Learn why it’s better to coach teams through challenges.
  1. Avoid pitfalls of returning to the office — Plans for employees to return to the office continue to be thwarted by COVID mutations, most recently the Omicron variant. Employers grappling with how to get people back in the office should explore these tips to make employees want to return to the workplace.
  1. The ‘send a Bible rule’ that has nothing to do with religion — Making an impression that lasts relies on tapping into several zones, and may include anticipation, humor and physicality. Read how emotionally intelligent people use multi-sensory tactics to get their point across.
  1. Leave burnout in 2021 — Employees at all levels across all industries are experiencing higher rates of burnout, anxiety and depression. As a result, employers are receiving more requests for mental health breaks. Discover three ways to have better work/life balance in 2022.
