Consumers takes home multiple awards for wellness program
Is your company healthy enough? Ours is!
Consumers Credit Union has been honored with two prestigious awards for its Wellness Program: the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America Award and the 101 Best & Brightest in Wellness Award.
On September 26, 2016, before 3,000 attendees from over 100 countries, Consumers was awarded The Healthiest 100 Award during the 8th Annual Employer Healthcare & Benefits Congress in Washington, D.C. This award is the highest, most-coveted distinction in the corporate wellness industry, with only 100 companies in the US earning such designation each year.
The Healthiest 100 Award is presented by the Healthiest Employer Award Program and is scored on six critical elements of workplace wellness: culture and leadership commitment, foundational components, annual planning, communications and marketing, programming and interventions, and reporting and analysis.
For the fifth year in a row, Consumers Credit Union was named one of “Michigan’s Best and Brightest in WellnessTM” by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA)! This award celebrates and recognizes organizations’ quality and excellence in health and wellness.
Winners were evaluated with the WellCompanies assessment, created and administered by Wellco. This year’s winners represent many industries, and were honored on Tuesday, October 20 at a breakfast celebration in The Henry Autograph Collection Hotel in Dearborn. Stefanie Whitlatch, Member Service Representative at Consumers Credit Union and chair person of its’ wellness committee, presented at a panel during the awards program.
Consumers’ robust wellness program includes subsidized gym memberships for employees, a supply of fruit and healthy snacks in break rooms, outstanding health insurance, and private sessions with wellness coaches for all employees, in addition to incentives for establishing healthy habits and completing a biometric screening.
“Wellness is about being balanced and making good decisions for long-term wellbeing. Our wellness program, which we introduced in 2012, helps employees take a holistic approach to their total wellbeing. It is part of our culture.” said Shawn Premer, Chief Human Resources Officer of Consumers Credit Union.
Consumers Credit Union is regularly recognized, both regionally and nationally, for it’s wellness, onboarding, and training programs. Programs that foster employee satisfaction are an integral part of Consumers’ corporate culture, encouraged from the highest levels down. This is one reason why it is considered to be one of the best companies to work for in its area.
